What Urgent Care Means
Urgent care is for conditions that are not immediately life-threatening but do require timely medical attention. These are concerns that often develop suddenly, change quickly, or interfere with your pet’s normal comfort and wellbeing.
Common reasons families seek urgent care include:
- Vomiting or diarrhea that persists or worsens
- Decreased appetite or noticeable changes in eating habits
- Limping, stiffness, or suspected minor injury
- Ear or skin irritation that appears sudden or severe
- Coughing, sneezing, or mild respiratory symptoms
- Changes in urination or signs of discomfort
- Low energy or behavior that feels “off” from normal

Urgent Care vs. Emergency Care
Understanding where your pet’s needs fall helps ensure they receive the right care at the right time.
Urgent Care is appropriate when:
Your pet is stable, but showing new or concerning symptoms that should be addressed within a short timeframe.
Emergency Care is needed immediately for:
- Difficulty breathing or choking
- Collapse or loss of consciousness
- Seizures
- Significant trauma (such as being hit by a car or a fall from height)
- Heavy or uncontrolled bleeding
- Suspected toxin ingestion
- Severe abdominal swelling or repeated unproductive retching
